Take this advice from Peter Bailey of The Prouty Project: Leave your office. Peter knows the value of meeting away from the office. He’s facilitated training sessions for more than 20 years in 40 countries and shares three reasons for holding a team building meeting or corporate retreat at a location away from your office.
1. You can’t fix a bike while you’re riding it. Get of the bike to get a good look at what’s happening.
2. Experiential learning (meaning the entire group engages in problem solving) is the ideal laboratory for getting long-term results.
3. Shared experiences build trust and allow people to understand each other better. It’s this shared history that gets teams through tough times.
